In the past couple of years, I got more and more involved in the improvisational scene in New York, working together with all different kinds of instruments and genres outside of my initial jazz bubble. In addition to using the looper, I started getting more familiar with synthesizers and musical instrument apps on the Ipad, using my voice as an instrument and creating soundscapes where a mood was set, rather than a song with a beginning or an end. When Covid hit, I challenged myself to create a similar experience, collecting ‘one note’ sound samples from a bunch of friends, which became the “One Note project” I created for International Women’s Day 2019. These soundscapes are a bit of a journey from one song to the next, like a palette cleanser.

In this first soundscape of our journey, you hear journalist Pennie Taylor travel for two days on the back of a motorcycle, driving through the dense jungle of Virunga. You will hear children singing as she travelled through the small villages. All glued together with my voice and sounds from different musicians.
